Great North Run Half Marathon.
In 1981, when I was young and fit, I ran in the first ever Great North Run, this was a great experience and something I will remember forever.
In my infinite wisdom, I decided that this being my 60th year that I would enter it again. So off I sent my application to the ballot, thinking "I will never get in" then what do you know? I have just received my e-mail informing me that I have been successful in my application.
I have decided to run for Cancer Research UK, which is a charity that is close to my heart as cancer has claimed four members of my family, I have opened a fundraising page on the Just Giving website, I hope to raise a minimum of £1000, if any of my friends or connections on LinkedIn would like to make a donation, large or small, you can do so from this link: https://www.justgiving.com/Leslie-Miller
So, the hard work and training starts now; the 13 miles, 20km run is on September the 10th, that gives me 6 month to get up to speed and hopefully, I can finish fit and well and in a time that is not too embarrassing.
I will post from time to time on my training progression, to keep any sponsors up to speed, wish me luck!
Les Miller.
