This is outside of the data and analytics sphere, but is such a useful idea that I had to share it. Julia Evans writes about creating a yearly brag document.
I've always kept a running weekly log of what I do, what I accomplish, and my next steps. It helps greatly when it comes time to write quarterly or yearly reviews, and for updating the 'ol resume.?
But this yearly brag document is genius because it covers so much more, such as things you might have done outside your normal work scope but that benefit the organization. It is also easier to review than the weekly logs.?
In addition to being ready for review time, the experiences you document will be invaluable when answering those dreaded behavioral interview questions. After a few years of work, details start to blur, like "that one time you had to give negative feedback to a colleague." I mean, who wants to dedicate precious cranium space to remembering that?
