On That GREAT AND FINAL DAY
By Ken Simmons
The End of Days. Although most people prefer to think of something, anything else, but there will come a day that will end all days, and if it as important as the scriptures indicate it will be, let’s see if we can find out more of what the Bible has to say about this amazing and momentous day.
When this day finally comes, and it’s as important as the Bible says it is, and since no one knows when this day will come upon us, because even Jesus said?“No one knows the day or the hour.”?(see Mark 13:32, it’s obvious that we need to get ready. But how can we prepare for this day when it arrives, especially if we’re not expecting it?
That day, the final day for all of mankind, is not however, a total mystery. The Bible does describe the events of that day, so let’s see if we can learn what to expect.
The Bible declares,?“Because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained, He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”?(Acts 17:31). This is called the Day of Judgment, and it is when Jesus, the Son of God, will judge?"the living and the dead.”?That sounds as though it may be truly important, something we need to pay attention to.
This may all sound far-fetched to you, something that “might happen, someday” and if you’ve decided you’re not going to worry about it – not now anyway, let’s look at the consequences if you decide to forget about the whole thing. For some, if you are still alive, that day will come upon you unexpectedly, but for those that have already passed into eternity, their day has already come. Just remember, whether you believe that day will ever come, or not, will not change the fact that it will come – it is inevitable!??
I have several friends who died when they least expected it, and they had no idea that their final end was upon them. They simply put the notion out of their minds. Unfortunately, many of them were not believers, and we know the outcome for them is not something to look forward to.
If you knew that tomorrow you were going to be exposed to some deadly disease, and there was a miracle cure available, you would let nothing get in your way to keep you from getting that cure which would save your life.
And yet, we have all been warned that there is a choice between heaven and hell, and whether you acknowledge it or not, hell is far worse than some deadly disease you’ve decided to put out of your mind, at least for now.???
“I call Heaven and Earth to witness against you today: I place before you Life and Death, blessing and cursing. ‘Therefore choose life.” (See Deuteronomy 30:19)
We have all been given a choice. It’s not complicated, but it is the most important choice you will ever make. Jesus said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me.”?(See John 14:6)
He also said;
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life?”?(John 3:16)

It’s obvious. If you decide to accept Him you will never perish and you will live—forever!??But, if you reject Him, you cannot avoid eternal damnation, and that’s also —forever!
So here’s the choice, and it’s a big one. Accept Jesus Christ as your savior and you will live forever with Him in paradise, but say “no” to Him and you will spend eternity in a place where Jesus said there is?“weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth”?– forever! ?(See Matthew 8:12).
Some of you may be thinking,?“That’s not fair. Why should we have to believe in Jesus to escape hell and live forever in paradise?”
I didn’t make the rules –?so take it up with God!??But don’t be surprised if you lose the argument with the Almighty. Incidentally, I chose to live with Jesus – forever! I certainly hope you do as well.
Here’s how to make that choice, the choice to live -- forever!
“Jesus, I want to avoid hell and live with you in paradise – forever! Please forgive me for all the sins I’ve committed, and I accept you as my Lord and Savior. I now surrender my life to you. Amen.”
If you’ve made that choice you are now ready for that Great and Final Day, in which you will live forever with Jesus. I also encourage you to find new friends who know and love Jesus, and ask them to teach you more about Him. I also encourage you to find a Bible and begin learning from it, because it will be your source of life. Welcome, you are now a part of “the church, the Body of Chris????
