GREAT EXPECTATIONS

GREAT EXPECTATIONS

It was a Saturday night. I had actually gotten permission from my Mom and Dad (huge shocker- they were preeetttyy strict) to spend the night at my friend Brian's house. As I think back... I am pretty sure that I was ohhhh, I'd say 9-10 years old at the time (1990). Now this night was gonna be epic. Brian had a basketball hoop and a light that lit up the driveway at night. Tonight we were gonna be Michael Jordan and it was gonna be a dunk fest.

You see family, we started out with great expectations. The expectation that we were going to be sports rockstars on that "late night basketball court." The expectation that every ball headed our way was gonna end up a dunk via just shy of the free-throw line. The expectation that the "crowds" were gonna go absolutely buck wild over the #23 that adorned our backs.

We were going to be "gods" of our own creation on this night. We had Michael Jordan to thank for that. He had set the bar so high. Our own expectations were off the chart. We watched his every move. We practiced. We ran, we jumped, we dribbled.... we even lowered the hoop... so that we could dunk the hell outta that ball. The results... oh how we reigned that night!

The crowds were on their feet. As we jumped, yelled in excitement, and watched the basketball snap through the net, we understood what it meant to be "champions", even if it was in our own imaginations. IT WAS GLORIOUS!! The expectations that we had been talking about all day long... waiting for this very evening were being made into a reality and they truly lived up to the hype.

CREW- I tell that story to ask this- what are your great expectations? In your master plan, what details or actions are you most excited about? I mean excited like 9-10 year old gets? Life is full of expectations. Keep building them up, bigger and bigger until they become that free-throw line leap, straight to a SLAM DUNK!!

From me to you- much love and may you always stay strong, stay hungry, just do and give no quarter.

Good piece, It's been awhile since I've had to laugh and remember to be the adventures person who just enjoying your self and the desire in front of me. Got older and hung in just trying to survive that you don't want to risk it and lose it instead. Great piece, always remember to live not just survive. Thank you for the inspiration.
