The Great Coach Speaks Little

The Great Coach Speaks Little

“The great leader speaks little.

He never speaks carelessly.?

He works without self-interest

And leaves no trace.

When all is finished, the people say,?

“We did it ourselves.”

I have been reflecting deeply on this verse from the Tao Te Ching this last week.

It landed so true. And it occurred to me to swap ‘leader’ for ‘coach’ and the same is true.?

Great coaches speak little.?

If they can’t improve on the silence, they stay silent.

They trust their client knows best. They trust their client has the answer within.

They see their client in their highest light. As pure potential.

And when all is said and done, the client feels like they did it all themselves.?

That’s great coaching!

So...

… will you join me this week in speaking less? Staying silent an extra 10 seconds.?

… will you join me in trusting more? Trusting our clients have the answer within.?

… will you join me in speaking with precision? More direct, less fluff.?

And will you let me know how you get on?

Good luck,?

Joel
