A great business cannot be built sitting in AC rooms
Sharing real-life stories with the world.
I joined a company in an African country.
The company’s chairman an Indian checks the client's data every 6 months to know how many new clients added, old clients are continuously buying or stopped, etc . One time after this exercise, the chairman and I prepared a list of clients who stopped buying in the last 3 months. Then the chairman told me that one lady client has been buying since the beginning of the business, now she stopped. Let us go and meet her. Chairman knows her outlet.
We both went to meet. She was there in the outlet as soon as she saw the chairman and me, she welcomed us and offered a seat to sit. That was lunchtime and she just opened her lunch box. She immediately brought 2 extra plates and put lunch for us also. The outlet is in middle of a huge market, fully dirty place and dust from the vehicles moving. It is local food called FUFU and the leaf curry called PONDU. The chairman just cleaned his hands and started eating like an African man.
A very rich businessman politely can tell that he had lunch or some other reason to avoid eating. That was the first time for me even to see the local food. I also started eating.
She told us that one of the employees had stolen her money and now he does not have the finance to buy more medicines that I the reason she stopped buying. Chairman took her with us in our car and given the credit for $ 6000 products and told her to pay within one month.
Chairman then told that
No client is big or No client is small. All clients are important for us. We can make a small client as big clients with our efforts.
