El Dorado Rum: Behind the Shot
Hi Everyone,
I want to share a bit about my recent photoshoot for El Dorado Rum.
I was contacted to work on a special social media project to introduce El Dorado Rum to the U.S. market.
El Dorado Rum is a world-renowned premium rum, originating from Guyana, known for its artisanal tradition and the exceptional quality of its products. Each bottle captures the richness of its natural ingredients, offering a unique experience for true rum enthusiasts.
After several discussions and negotiations, we faced a few challenges: the client wanted a bank of images featuring their products in diverse locations along with three reels, but the assigned budget limited our production days.
To overcome this challenge, we decided to recreate several locations in the studio that simulated the desired ambiance. We built small sets using surfaces or tables with El Dorado bottles, glasses filled with the product, carefully selected props, and food. The setup was kept very clean and minimalistic since the rum was the true star.
For scenes that needed to appear outdoors, we applied the same approach. We recreated the table and product setup in the studio and used artificial intelligence to generate realistic backgrounds. The AI-generated images were projected onto a monitor as the background, and during the shoot, we adjusted the blur in Photoshop to achieve the desired depth in a single shot, eliminating the need for additional compositing retouches.

This strategy allowed us to capture stunning images and record several video reels in just one day, optimizing both time and budget.
It’s important to highlight that the pre-light day was crucial for achieving our goals. Preparing the studio with the different sets and adjusted lighting in advance enabled us to turn a three-day project into a two-day production. This was a key part of our strategy, helping us stay within the client’s budget without sacrificing quality and meeting all expectations.
This project allowed us to work efficiently, showcasing the synergy of the team and the smooth communication with the client. Thanks to careful planning and a collaborative approach, we achieved exceptional results that reflect the spirit and quality of the brand.
