The Great Apple vs. Android Debate: A Tech Journey Through Time
This stream of thought is just for fun! I’ve been in and around technology since the early days of the personal computer. Back in high school, my friends and I used to program our graphing calculators to play games (which was totally cooler than just doing math), and I remember the thrill of using cheat codes to unlock hidden worlds in video games. For me, it was always about seeing what technology could really do, not just about the fun—although, let's face it, it was pretty fun.
I’ve witnessed some major tech revolutions, from the launch of Windows 95, which completely transformed how we interact with computers, to the iconic rise and fall (and rise again) of Steve Jobs at Apple. Jobs had a way of making technology not just functional but beautiful and exciting, and that’s why I’ve always been fascinated by Apple. Sure, I’ve worked on both Windows and Apple systems over the years, but I’ve slowly evolved into an all-Apple household. And yes, it’s become a bit of a joke among my friends—are you an Apple or an Android person?
The truth is, this debate between Apple and Android users has become a kind of modern-day tribal rivalry, and I find it all pretty hilarious. Both sides throw banter back and forth: Apple is so user-friendly! Android is so customizable! But at the end of the day, I just love technology. I love that we live in a world where I can turn on my TV and watch whatever I want with the touch of a button—or better yet, just tell my TV what I want to watch, and it listens. I control my thermostat from my phone, I can see who’s at my front door from anywhere, and yes, I even control my pool’s heat and lighting with an app. I mean, Star Trek pretty much predicted the smartphone, didn’t it? Thanks, Martin Cooper, for making that a reality!
I admit, I’m a bit of an Apple fanboy. I wait for their big product launches twice a year, hoping for something as groundbreaking as the iPod or iPhone. Everything Apple makes seems so sleek and cool while being shockingly useful. That said… Androids are pretty impressive too. Don’t tell my Apple friends I said that.

But what really hit me recently was watching my daughter, now in 8th grade, come home and do almost all her homework on an iPad. No more overloaded backpacks stuffed with textbooks, no need for a locker bursting at the seams. She reads constantly, both on her iPad and good ol’ paper books, listens to music, and learns about the world without needing a wall of encyclopedias. Remember Britannica? Yeah, that’s ancient history now.
Honestly, I think it’s awesome how seamlessly technology has become part of our everyday lives. And no, it’s not melting anyone’s brain! My friends’ brains are still intact, despite all those hours of gaming and programming calculators back in the day.
So, whether you're team Apple or team Android, we can all agree on one thing: technology is amazing, and it’s just getting better.
While Android is clearly the winner. I couldn't help posting this. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/sPcTSYGJMDKAeSuG/?mibextid=D5vuiz
