Gratitude toward you, LinkedIn Network

As we approach a new decade, I wish to take a moment to reflect and share a few thoughts with you, members of my LinkedIn network. I widely post in French, as that is a major part of my identity, and my professional life, having graduated from Université de Moncton, and been employed in French-language education since completing my undergraduate degree at Université de Moncton. I value both official languages, and am thankful that my parents and community have allowed me to become equally at ease in both languages.

As I approach 25K members in my network, I have been reflecting upon the rich learning opportunities this experience has provided me, and how thankful I am for my supervisor having encouraged me to create my profile (merci Normand DeCelles!). While the neagativity of other social media network platforms has seen me steer clear of them, or at mimimum, significantly reduce my usage, I am humbled by the benefits of LinkedIn. The diversity of backgrounds, professions, and accomplishments that I am afforded the opportunity to witness and explore have added to my toolbox, enriching my knowledge and perspectives while contributing to who I am, personally and professionally.

The photo I have included in this article was taken in the spring of 2019 in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, more specifically on the famous Skyline Trail. As I hiked solo that day, doing this trail for the very first time (blush, as I am from Cape Breton!), when I came upon this sight, I was taken aback and paused for a few moments to appreciate the view. As I now look upon it again, it serves as the metaphor for remaining well-rooted, while reaching for the sky. Humility, respect, and work ethic are qualities I aspire to demonstrate, while also seeking to continuously reach for the sky through growth, learning, and altruism. I thank you for your contributions in this area.

As we approach 2020, may we take a moment to look in the mirror and measure our success using the baseline of the success of those around us. No individual can succeed alone. Others have helped each and every one of us; now, it is perhaps our turn to be that person. Alone, we travel fast; together, we travel far.

Happy December, and best (early) wishes for a healthy and happy 2020, and a bright and productive decade of the 20's. And especially, merci/thank you for being a valued member of my network.
