Gratitude to Women

Gratitude to Women

On this, International Women's Day 2024, I would love to thank the women I work with, my women clients, the women who mentor me, support me, listen to me, seek to understand me, and enable me to go out into the world again and do my work.

It's a very short blog today.

It just has one simple message: I am so grateful.

I love being in your company.

I love it that we 'swim in the same water'. There is just something so comforting, easy, supportive, that we don't even have to talk about 'the water we're swimming in'.

By this, I mean, our patriarchal society.

And I don't say that in an angry way, or even in a particularly political way. It just is.

We have more men in positions of power, we're encouraged subliminally to fit in to masculine ways of doing things, masculine values.

We adapt very well, as we step into patriarchal structures - we emulate the best of what we see, we work double-y hard to fit in, to make a difference, to succeed, all the while holding fast to our feminine values; collaborating, listening, caring, supporting, finding compromise, enabling win-win-win.

It doesn't have to be 'either-or'.

It doesn't have to be 'right or wrong'.

We can find our way to be truly ourselves, and if that means creating our own environment in which to thrive.....bring it on!

I'm thinking in particular of women clients who want to do different work in the world. Who are questioning their purpose in life. Who want to bring their amazing skills to something that just feels more..... 'more me'. More meaningful. More joyful.

It may not seem possible. It may seem life a far-fetched dream.

But why should it be?

What COULD be possible? You don't have to do it on your own.

Take 'the itch', the inkling that work could be different, the whisper of a dream, and as a first step, whatever you do, cherish it. Spend time with it. Honour what it is wanting to tell you.

There are so many forums and resources in our world today, to help us find our true nature, to sit in community, to step into different environments, to do our 'heart's work'.

And of course, from me, no obligation - reach out, get in touch. We can talk and share. I would love that.
