Gratitude Without Conditions
Helping Entrepreneurs with Passion, Purpose & Persistence
These past two weeks, I've been horribly sick with whatever is going around. Now that we're beyond the worldwide COVID scare, when someone gets sick and it looks, feels and sounds like the flu, it usually is and in this case, it looked, felt and sounded like COVID, which I'm convinced it was and unfortunately stills is.
This got me to thinking about my life as now a 62 year old male and how amazing this journey has been for me with literally no life threatening health issues EVER! I don't take any medications, I don't deal with any sort of issues that lessen my ability to live life to the fullest each and every day.
As I sit here still feeling pretty bad after two weeks of this crude, I think about how unproductive I've been over the past two weeks and how my output has been cut by at least 3/4 of what I normally produce and get done in a day, a week, a month. I started to think about those of us who do have to deal with health issues and how that underlying and constant reminder by our body that things aren't 100%, can be somewhat of distraction at the very least but more so a degradation in productivity which causes us angst.
In my defense, I'm overall a very grateful person. For example, when I lay my head on my pillow at night, I often become overwhelmed with gratitude for having a roof over my head, a bed to sleep on, a soft pillow, a wife who loves me, a family that gets along and the list can go on and on and on.
The reason I bring this up, is that we need to be more aware and in tune with all that we should be grateful for on a daily basis and not needing something that throws us off kilter, to remind us how good things normally are in our lives. Getting this cold or flu or COVID has definitely thrown me off kilter and I don't like it one bit...no sir!!
So how does this translate to you, what you do in life, you business, dreams, goals, aspirations and ultimately your purpose? Well, life is a series of ebbs and flows and while we all get caught up in the day to day, super high speed life we all live, you MUST take time each and everyday to be thankful for the good that has come into your life. Take time to glance back at your wines and be thankful for those moments. Give yourself a little time to gloat regarding what you have accomplished.

It's important to store up and remind yourself often of all the good that has happened in your life because it's those moments that will pull you through times like I'm having where I feel so miserable, I'm extremely unproductive and I'm angry that this disease for lack of a better term, has such power over my physical and mental state.
In closing, I'm grateful for being 62 years old with zero health issues, a successful business, a loving wife and family, a roof over my head, many travels both behind and ahead of me and overall, a pretty fickin' awesome life.
What are you grateful for? Can you make it a habit to do a gratitude practice each and every evening?
