Gratitude & Thanks

Dear clients,

The air is crisp.? The leaves are changing color and Pumpkin Spice is everywhere…It’s Thanksgiving season.

As we approach the end of the year, it’s natural that we reflect on the year and plan for the next.? As part of that reflection, I often come to gratitude.? Giving thanks is an amazing gift…when I am stuck or feeling dysregulated, I have found that doing a daily gratitude list can free me from my petty thoughts.? In my opinion, gratitude should be shared more often.? Giving thanks to those in your life can open your heart and can change the way you see the world.? And maybe, someone will notice your casual generosity and it will inspire them to spread their gratitude.?? So, here goes:??

During the season of Thanksgiving, our tradition at the Purpose Driven Investment (PDI) Group, is not to give a bottle of wine or tchotchke with our logo embossed on it to show our gratitude, but instead to give to worthy causes.

This year, we decided to donate to World Central Kitchen which was founded by Chef José Andrés.? “WCK believes that food is essential to life every single day, all over the world—and it is more important than ever in a crisis. Food has the power to be the nourishment and hope we need to pick ourselves back up in the darkest times”.??

It all started in 2010 when Chef Andrés flew to Haiti after a devastating earthquake to lend his culinary skills to help the devastated Haitians in their time of need.? Since then, WCK has served over 300 million meals in the aftermath of natural disasters, to hospital staff during the pandemic, to Ukrainian families in response to the Russian invasion as well as to families impacted by conflict in the Middle East.??

And to double the impact of the PDI Group donation, J.P. Morgan will be matching it dollar for dollar.

As I wish you and yours a joyous and thankful holiday, I want to share with you this research on the health and well-being powers of gratitude, which concludes that gratitude is "strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness" and better health outcomes.
