Gratitude - the secret key to Happiness and Abundance

There is this story famous for ages, about an ordinary man - simple, full of expectations and dreams. His name was Manas. 

Coming from a poor background, Manas had not much to cherish in his life. He lived his life somehow, passed schools, college and got an average job in a metro city. 

He was just a typical guy in the city from a small place. One of the best habits he picked from his family was that of being Grateful for whatever he has in his life. 

Actually, once upon a time, a great saint visited his village, the saint only spoke one line and it was, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God". He and his family since then decided to keep saying this statement, day and night, morning and evening, in good times and in bad times, and as a habit, it got ingrained in him too. 

One day, having missed his bus, he walked into his office late. Out of habit, he was constantly saying, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God". His friend, Seema, who was with him was wondering why he is just repeating the same statement. As both reached the office very late, the boss was angry and shouted on on them left-right-center.

Both were given last warning for maintaining proper discipline as they had been coming late office quite often. As they both came out of the room, Manas kept on saying, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God". 

Later in the day, a big appointment was scheduled, it was the biggest deal the company was going to have this year. Both of them left office in time for the meeting, and as they were going for it, their vehicle was hit by a car. The car was being driven by a driver with a young boy at the back seat, the driver was unconscious and the boy was badly injured.

Despite being injured, Manas and his friend took the driver and the boy to the hospital. Fortunately, they were able to reach on time and save both lives. But because of all this, it became impossible for them to reach the meeting.

In the meantime, the client had called Manas' boss stating that no one had reached the meeting venue and hence they are canceling the deal. Boss was completely furious and rang Manas to convey that both of them (Manas and Seema) were fired.

Seema, was devastated and in tears with all that had happened

In the utter disappointment, as they were coming out of the hospital, Seema found Manas repeating, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God"

Seema was feeling terrible because of boss' words and this irritated her further. She spoke angrily, "What the hell you are being grateful for? We missed the bus, boss shouted, we met with an accident, missed the appointment and lost the job. What worse than this could happen today?"

Manas replied calmly, "I don't know". He again looked down and silently whispered, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God" 

As they both were walking out of the hospital gate, a voice came from behind, "Excuse me, Listen". They turned back and saw a rich man, who seemed to be a businessman. He came to them, fell on their feet and kept on crying.

Both of them were in utter shock for what was happening. Seema asked the gentleman why he was crying? He replied that the boy who met with an accident is his only son, who was deaf and dumb since childhood, but miraculously after the accident the child has got back his ability to listen and speak. Doctors couldn't believe this.

Listening to this, both of them got in utter shock. The gentleman then said that he runs several companies, and as a token of gratitude, he wishes to hand over one company to them. Manas and Seema were speechless at this and they asked the gentleman, "Have you gone crazy? It's ok, we know that we have saved your child's life but why are you giving us your company.

The gentleman replied, that soon after his son's birth, he had gone to discuss the son's condition with a saint. The Saint had told him that one day a Firm Believer of God will come and help my child to heal. It will be a miraculous event, and the child will be healed because of the faith that the man will have on God. And when that happens, he must transfer one company to him, the Saint also gave him one sentence to repeat, which was "Being Grateful, I am connected with God."

Listening to this, Seema was in tears, as was Manas, he was the same Saint whom Manas had met in his childhood and who gave them the mantra, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God" 

Both of them had tears of joy, having gotten massive wealth suddenly. While they were going towards their home, they saw mid-way that the bus they missed that morning had met with an accident and all passengers had died on the spot.

They later found out that the company they are owning now was the same which was supposed to be their important client in the morning. 

Reflecting on all this, Seema felt guilty that she was cursing her fate that she missed the bus and even lost her job while there was something even better waiting for her which she couldn't see. She had a smile on face as she heard Manas whispering subtly, "Being Grateful, I am connected with God" 

Mysterious are the ways of "Faith and God", from complete darkness, rises the morning Sun, burning itself but still giving us the precious and life-sustaining warmth and light.
