In gratitude to RBI

On Friday, August 26, ?IRIS Business Services Limited, the firm of which I am the Founder & CEO will receive an award from the Union Finance Minister, Smt Nirmala Sitaraman. It is in recognition for the work we have done for RBI. ?The award instituted by Financial Express, recognizes us as India’s best Fintech. It is for the work we have done to help transform Indian banking through XBRL.

It is clients that make a company successful. Every successful company stands on the shoulders of the clients it seeks to serve. ?An innovation works only if there is a wiling client who is willing to back the innovation and adopt it with as much enthusiasm as the innovator who comes up with it. RBI is our client. Who gave us the room to innovate. Gave us the motivation to deliver. Made us accountable. RBI ?made us who we are today.

There are many fintechs who are bigger than us. ?There are many fintechs who are valued more than us. There are many fintechs who are more famous than us. What sets us apart is the fact that only a handful have been as impactful as us. Fetching us this award as India’s best fintech. RBI made it happen.

I remember vividly the day when two senior officers of RBI visited us. To understand for themselves what it will take for a successful XBRL implementation. They wanted to start with a pilot. An RFP was issued to which we responded but did not win. But we did the pilot anyway. ?Pro bono. ?At the request of one of the RBI officers. We gave it our all. ?We showed RBI just how good we are.

Ever since, RBI has backed us. Every XBRL project award since then has been won by us. We have been serving RBI since 2008. Over the years we have interacted with more than 250 officers. Every one of them helped us grow. To each of them we are grateful. Hugely so.
