Gratitude
The happening in Ukraine is a good opportunity for us to reflect on our good fortune, we tend to take so many things for granted, indoor plumbing for instance. Imagine having a steady lifestyle as a Ukrainian only a few days ago and having your world turned upside down by the war, all of a sudden that indoor plumbing looks like a luxury, isn't it?
Quite often we have everything yet we are gripped with boredom which by the way is a feeling we don't author but invariably tend to identify with, this lack of gratitude makes us forget how privileged we are.
Let's try to put ourselves in the shoes of a resident of Mariupol, Ukraine, who would have thought the city would face such devastation with people not having access to basic needs like food and water, and even when people are trying to flee they are being shot at, now compare your life with a citizen of Mariupol, should we not be grateful for the luxuries we enjoy like clean drinking water, access to food, steady family life and just being able to breathe easy, things that we otherwise take for granted.
Even when things are bad in our lives we still have plenty to be grateful for and should count our blessings as we go about life and in case we fail to elicit such a response we only need to cast our mind to the struggles of people of Ukraine or Syria or Yemen or Afghanistan or simply look around us at lesser privileged people.
