Gratitude is a lifehack
Most things that have an impact come from repetition; for good or for bad outcomes.
Constancy can be a blessing or a curse.
In my experience, gratitude, as a habit/attitude, does not come so naturally.
Adolescence is a time when we tend to be the most ungrateful for the people and material advantages we've got.
We don't seem to easily recover from that period.
About two years ago I heard about the practice of keeping a gratitude journal.
It consists of writing the things you felt grateful for at the end of each day - it takes two minutes at night.
Needless to say, I could form a habit. However, I have remained committed to refocusing more often on what I have - not what I could have.
And it helps. It breaks through the fog of daydreaming.
The realization that so much has been given to us by the hard toil of others that came before gives me a high.
Try it sometime.
