It is one of the best feelings we can live with, being grateful for or having an attitude of gratitude can and should be one of the pillars of our existence.
Throughout life, there are many reasons to be grateful, and of all messages, philosophies, beliefs, etc., this is perhaps the one I practice and value the most, and with that, I have managed to overcome many times less good situations, or situations that could certainly lead to more difficult paths.
Always looking at the glass half full, or always looking at the solution side, are certainly behaviors and attitudes that we must privilege, as our sanity thanks.
When I wake up, every day, in addition to fighting for a few minutes with two alarm clocks, one of the exercises I practice mentally is to thank for everything. Thank for waking up for another day, thank for having goals to accomplish throughout the day. To know that I am alive, that the family is with me and in good health, to know that the water works, the lights turn on, and that I have hot water to take a bath.
To know that I have the possibility to have a good breakfast, and that I can then go to work, that I have an occupation or a job that helps me pay the bills at the end of the day. Knowing that all this is not guaranteed, but that it is renewed every day, is more than enough to start the day thanking for all this and much more.
The times we live in and those that are coming, have come to disrupt many lives and unfortunately they will disrupt even more. Many will be those who will have to face anguish and difficult moments due to the economic crisis that is already installed or that will be installed in a generalized way, and the line that divides being well or being depressed can be very tenuous.
When I decided to write this little reflection, I was thinking of everyone and with a view that these words can help someone find that sign of hope that things can be resolved.
The challenge is to be able, even in very difficult circumstances, to find space to have an attitude of gratitude, every day, always looking at what is good and not at the difficulties that tend to be temporary.
Over almost half a century of life, I have gone through less good stages in life and if there is a lesson I learned from everything I lived and experienced, it is that the great strength to overcome difficulties is in us, and in the way we look for the circumstances and what we are. And believe me, every moment, what we live really depends on circumstances, that is, a set of temporary conditions that sooner or later change and morph.
Waking up and lying down at night being grateful and having an attitude of gratitude is a good strategy. And if, in addition to the attitude of gratitude, we have the capacity to act, always answering the question 'and why not?', I am sure that they will be on the way to a better life. Often different, perhaps even outside our comfort zone, but certainly towards new circumstances and new hopes that our life can improve.
Sorry for this reflection a little more personal, but I believe that we will live troubled times in the coming months, and I believe that this may be a small contribution, even if it is for just 1 person. I know that sometimes we find in words a force that changes our lives, or that helps us to change our lives, and if I know that I can have that kind of contribution even if it is just with 1 person, I already consider the minutes that it took me to write these lines a special and good investment of my time.
Thank you ... and be grateful.

4 年What a moving post ! I am a big believer in gratitude and like you practice it daily, I even have a wonderful 5 year diary where I reply to a question each day on gratitude. We have so much to be thankful for, all the very small things - a smile in the street, a fleeting moment of laughter a phone call from a long lost friend etc. So yes let's get the Gratitude Movement going Helder Figueiredo
