Gratitude and Grace

This is the time of year we pause and reflect on all that we are grateful for, and count our blessings. Our reasons for gratitude far surpass our reasons to gripe.
We've gone through yet again, another tough year. We've celebrated peaks, and we've conquered valleys. Can I encourage you to give yourself some grace? So, you missed a deadline. Maybe you forgot an event that was on your calendar. Or, perhaps you didn't quite achieve some of your work goals that didn't level up to your expectations.
My guess is...you did your best. Please cut yourself some slack. Give yourself some grace.
I must admit that I found myself reminiscing about past Thanksgiving holidays that were so much fun and felt sentimental. Our home was the place family came for this holiday. An aunt consistently traveled from Denver and stayed a few days; cousins traveled from all over California to celebrate the festivities; my sons were always here. We played games, everyone spent the night and it was a blast!
As they say, everything must change.
My youngest son Alex, moved to New York a few months ago so he won't be with us this Thanksgiving. My aunt is no longer able to travel. Cousins found new traditions and celebrate in other ways.
So, as I reflected, I realized that I am grateful for what is. Our oldest son, Evan, will be here. And we have two very special friends that will us join us, and they'll spend a couple of nights! The new thought that occurred to me is...I am grateful for what is. The present. In a few years, I'll reflect and be grateful for these days, as well.
Oh? And I am so grateful that I once again completed the Susan G Komen walk this past weekend, and got a special badge as a top donator!!! I am grateful for my good health and ability to aid in my finishing, and so many generous donors. (Photo below of my hubby, Clarke, and oldest son, Evan who came to celebrate this achievement.)
