The Gratitude Challenge

One Thankful Moment at a Time

Welcome to Decembers Challenge! As part of my year long wellness challenge, this month will be dedicated to creating a habit that can improve your mental health and overall happiness…. Practicing gratitude.

Goal: Write down three things you’re grateful for every day

Gratitude Always Matters

?

I’m sure we all know that gratitude is more than just saying "thank you". ?It’s a mindset that encourages us to focus on what we have rather than what we lack. It’s such a simple practice with powerful effects. Gratitude helps us shift our perspective to recognize the silver linings, even in challenging situations. When we practice gratitude, we can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve our relationships and social connections, enhance positivity and can certainly lead you to obtaining a better grasp on your physical and mental health.

Actionable Steps to Start Practicing Gratitude

?

  1. Gratitude Journaling Believe it or not, it’s helpful writing things down. Use a notebook or app to jot down three things you’re grateful for each day. They don’t have to be big, sometimes it’s the small things.
  2. Set a Gratitude Reminder Choose a specific time each day. I recommend first thing in the morning or right before bed to reflect on what you’re grateful for. This way you’re waking up grateful or going to bed with positive thoughts.
  3. Tell Someone You Care Take a moment to thank someone meaningful in your life. A quick text, call, or heartfelt note can do more for someone’s mental health than you realize.
  4. Reframe Your Daily Challenges When facing a tough day, ask yourself: What lesson can I learn from this? Or is there something positive I can take away from this experience? Gratitude doesn’t ignore difficulties but helps us find meaning in them.
  5. Join a Challenge (like this one) Participate in the challenge community by sharing what you’re grateful for each week. Hearing others’ reflections can also inspire you!

Practicing gratitude may feel unfamiliar at first, but over time, it becomes second nature. Take a moment each day to reflect on what you’re thankful for and see how it transforms your perspective! Stay healthy my friends!
