Gratitude for Catalysts of Growth
This past week, I reflected on the catalysts for exponential growth at each stage of my personal, educational, and professional life. In every instance, an individual saw my potential and offered me opportunities to learn new capabilities. I am thankful to them because I would not have seen the opportunity in myself then.
Martha Graham once said, "You are unique, and if that is not fulfilled, then something has been lost." Each person who believed in me helped fulfill my uniqueness, translating my vitality, life force, and energy into action. Their belief was a beacon, guiding me to see and seize opportunities I had yet to recognize.
Graham also noted, "The only sin is mediocrity." By keeping the channel open to the urges that motivate us and staying aware of our unique capabilities, we can avoid mediocrity and strive for excellence. Those mentors and supporters embodied this principle, encouraging me to pursue my path passionately.
In our professional journeys, it's essential to acknowledge the divine dissatisfaction Graham speaks of – that blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than others. It's the drive to grow, learn, and continually push beyond our limits.
Thank you to everyone who has ever seen potential in me and offered growth opportunities. Your belief in me has catalyzed my exponential growth, and I am eternally grateful for that.
