Gratitude - another day of giving back and being thankful for the opportunity to give back comes to an end #InDay
I grew up in an environment where we were encouraged to cater for people less privileged than ourselves. Back home we would collect food items and clothes as part of the church activities and distribute them to the needy.
Investing your time, energy and money was seen and understood as a way of showing gratitude that you were in the position to show kindness to others. When I moved abroad I looked for other ways of giving back, combining something I loved with the opportunity to impact someone else’s life led me to running for charity but I was always happy to embrace other avenues to do more.
And today I want to say thank you to LinkedIn for giving us this opportunity to give back to the community, to my colleagues in the Munich office for preparing the tea, for shopping for the items required, for helping out today at the Munich Food bank (Münchner Tafel). I am so grateful for today and I look forward to many more opportunities for us to give back in the future as a region/team and individually.
So the next time you are faced with the opportunity to show a random act of kindness or to give back to your community - please embrace it whole heartedly because it is an honor and a privilege to have such an opportunity to make an impact on someone else’s life that at the same time enriches you.
It is a great way to be thankful, a great way to show gratitude. Most importantly also do it when no one is there to give you a pat on shoulder.
