A grateful look back at 2017, positive step forward into 2018 and more amazing projects!
D C Willans Artworks
Artist specialising in mural design, interior and exterior luxury finishes, and airbrushing.
2017 was a great year for D C Willans Artworks, we received some of our biggest commissions to date and arguable produced some of our most interesting and visually pleasing artworks to date. I created murals for businesses such as The Mach 3 group (who we must congratulate on becoming the Entrepreneur of the year) United Barbers, LJ's Kitchen in the Cook Islands, Digital Gurus recruitment, The Soda Factory, Bondi Barbers and collaborated with Intermain Interiors Designers in Brisbane.
This year brought with it some of my biggest challenges, a 300hr artwork consisting of 12 portraits, 1 huge lion, and two landscapes all in colour. Before I started the artwork I had only painted one colour portrait before under the supervision of my teacher Dru Blair. I believe that when you feel comfortable you are not pushing the boundaries and growing as an artist, this project took me into deep unknown territory, but the final results were a great, and my client was over the moon. That was not the only first for D C Willans Artworks in 2017. Towards the end of the year I was commissioned to paint a food truck that was going to be shipped to the Cook Islands. My client gave me free reign so we bounced around ideas, and settled on a Pulp Fiction themed food truck. The cult film was the perfect choice as it allowed complete integration with the business itself, which now includes the 'Chicken Royale' on the menu!
In 2018 we already have many goals and projects that will be taking flight, and we are excited to work with more business and interior designers that agree, art makes the work place, the home, the streets and the world a more exciting and inspiring place.
