Grateful for life

Grateful for life

Yes it’s my birthday today and I am most grateful to God for preserving me another year. There is so much to be grateful for. Another opportunity for me to ponder about life especially with what is happening around the world today. I got into high school a little earlier than my peers and boy I thought that was the greatest achievement in life. But in high school I soon discovered I wasn’t the ‘top dog’ I had thought I would be. In fact, my previous exploits in primary school didn’t seem to impress anyone. Then I got into university and couldn’t imagine how much liberty I had. But a friend told me I had lost the constant nudging of my parents to study and be around me and that it was a minus not a plus. I soon discovered that the liberty came at a price.

Then that chapter closed and there was now real work, real life- the real deal. I remember getting home during my youth service days to meet me my dad and brother (others had left the house) after work and though work was easy and fun, I sometimes pretended that the day was tougher than it was. That was my definition of being an adult. Then I started a business, then another, then another, then another and I still wondered if that was all.

Then came my lovely wife and beautiful children, it just kept getting better. However, Christ has been my greatest gift. My salvation has been my greatest asset. I have tried and I still share the gift with those that I come across through various platforms. However, nothing beats your service to mankind. That, I have tried to do and still do. Sometimes, the demands of men are more than one can meet but I still try and thank God for grace and ability. The best thing in life is to be a blessing to those around me; to lend a helping hand; to give a word in season; to be a source of comfort; to be a listening ear; to be a friend, to live for Christ.
