Grateful For the Journey

Thanksgiving is always a time for pause and reflection but this year is especially poignant. After two years driving transformation, today marks my last day with Glanbia Performance Nutrition. To say this was a difficult decision would be an understatement but I am extremely excited for the next step in my journey (more news to come later).?But today I am grateful for my team at Glanbia.

The past two years have been filled with significant change and, as a team, in a largely remote/hybrid work environment. We designed and implemented an integrated operating model, built new organizational capabilities, and shaped our culture while driving results. We have learned and led together with passion for our brands, resiliency in the face of tremendous inflationary headwinds, and a drive for results to win in the marketplace for our brands and for our customers.

And we’ve put in place the foundational capabilities to enable a consumer and brand-led business to operate at scale while fostering a culture focused on growing our people, our results in market and our financial performance.?

June 2022, Summer Employee Event to celebrate newly formed Employee Resource Groups (Network of Women/NOW; TrueColors; Mosaic)

A few years ago I had the opportunity to hear polar explorer, Alan Chambers, share his insights on building a high performance team to deliver extraordinary results in volatile and shifting environments. One of his key messages was that leadership isn’t about position or title, or even about leading from the front.

Instead, leadership is a choice to “lead from where you sit”, to see what needs to be done, and to collaborate with others to drive progress.

I have always felt that being a successful business leader isn’t about your ability to do everyone’s job, but in shaping a vision and strategy, then ensuring the right talent are in the right position, empowered and resourced to do great things. And every person, in every role, at ALL levels needs the space and the support to make an impact. Because of this, I am confident that the team we’ve formed, the capabilities built in the operating model and the people in the organization will continue to deliver results and accelerate growth into the future.

November 2022, GPN Americas National Meeting

I’m a passionate believer in personal and professional development. And that careers are a marathon, not a sprint. Every role, every experience and every connection is a part of our individual story. I am grateful for the past two years and know that I will carry my experience with our GPN Americas team with me as I step into this next chapter of my story.??
