Grateful, Impressed and Blown Away
I am so impressed and grateful for the diligence and passion of our teams as we reopen our stores. I’m equally blown away by the patience and cooperation of our customers as they re-enter our stores.
We are taking a slow and thoughtful approach to opening stores based on our ability to provide a safe environment for our associates and customers. To date, we have welcomed customers back to maurices in 380 of our locations. We expect the majority of our stores to be open by mid-June after we deem it is safe and responsible to do so.
Our associates have been busy implementing all of our new safety protocols and practices including:
- Healthy associates, by conducting daily screenings;
- Extra cleaning, including extra attention to high touch surfaces;
- Social distancing policies that limit store capacity and maintain space between customers;
- Protective equipment, including masks and gloves for our team members;
- Fitting rooms cleaned after every use & safety practices for tried on items;
- Plexiglas at our cash wraps;
- Hand sanitizer stations in all of our stores.
For a long time, we’ve considered the secret sauce of maurices as our culture. Embodied in our culture is a commitment to service and community. As I heard from associates who were opening their stores over the last two weeks, I listened to stories about how they were able to provide an amazing experience while adapting to our new practices. I also heard so many stories about our customers who were grateful to be shopping again, and at the same time were more than willing to work together with our teams as we put new practices in place.
It is this example of cooperation and collaboration that will allow us to keep health & safety at the forefront of everything we do, while at the same time allowing for connection and community.
