GRAPHENECR ANNOUNCES ADDITION OF DR. LUIS LORíA AS NEW CSO

Birmingham, Alabama and San José, Costa Rica – March 23, 2021- GrapheneCR (GCR) today announced the addition of noted materials scientist, engineer and professor Dr. Luis Guillermo Loría-Salazar, M.Sc., Ph.D. as their new Chief Science Officer.

“We are incredibly pleased and proud to add Dr. Loría to the GCR team,” noted Maví Figueres, Founder and President of GrapheneCR. “Luis is exactly the right person to help us realize the potential of graphene to revolutionize building materials, especially asphalts and concretes! He is THE expert in Latin America, if not the world,” added Ms. Figueres.  

Dr. Loría stated, “I am deeply happy about joining the great research effort to help develop graphene applications that serve people all over the world.”

A full professor at the School of Civil Engineering of the University of Costa Rica, Dr. Loría is recognized as one of the most important scientific researchers in the area of pavements in Latin America. He has taught pavement design and materials for more than 20 years and has directed dozens of undergraduate, masters and doctoral theses.

Dr. Loría has published about 180 scientific articles in the most important global journals in the field and is a full member of scientific committees in the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and of the Board of Editors of the IJPE and the RMPD, two most important pavement journals in the world, is a member of the boards of directors of the International Road Federation and the Costa Rican Institute of Cement and Concrete (ICCYC). He currently serves as President of the International Society of Asphalt Pavements (ISAP). 

 Dr. Loría regularly lectures in Latin American, the United States and Europe, receiving more than 70 international invitations to talk about his scientific research and was the winner of the 2018 Juan Antonio Fernández del Campo Award for Technological Innovation in Roads, the most important award in Ibero-America in the field.
