Grants are benefiting both Vehicle Owners and Property Owners
Achieving greater adoption of electric vehicles is tied in large part to vehicle owners having ready access to charging stations. Projects are arising around the country to meet this growing need and a growing number are now benefiting from a pipeline of grant funding.
TurnOnGreen, a company that builds public and private EV charging infrastructure, recently announced that their EV charging station installation project was funded by a grant from the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District’s “Clean Air Grant for Infrastructure” program.?
Amos Kohn, TurnOnGreen’s Chief Executive Officer, expresses the importance of grant programs in starting and executing EV charging station projects that benefit both vehicle users and property owners.
“TurnOnGreen is committed to assisting property owners access various utility, municipal, state, and federal grants to offset some of the costs associated with building EV charging infrastructure,” said Kohn.?“TurnOnGreen has the product, design, planning, and installation expertise to customize any project and enhance the value of any property with scalable EV charging solutions.”
Upon project completion, 168 multi-family units will have EV charging stations utilizing TurnOnGreen’s innovative?EVP700G?level 2 EV charger.?The charger has a unique power-sharing technology that maximizes access to charging without requiring costly power upgrades—a concern of property owners who are seeking to offer charging services to tenants, guests, and the general public.
Foreseeing the expected growth in charging station installations, the?National League of Cities, a membership-based advocacy organization, has publicized recently established Federal grant programs and initiatives directed toward cities and towns. They report that $700 million in grant funding will soon be available from the new?Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) grant program?in which local governments may apply for grants to cover the costs of charging station installation and maintenance.

While TurnOnGreen is involved in multiple EV charging station projects across North America, California presents possibly the greatest opportunity, as it is leading in EV adoption, according to the?California Energy Commission?and the?California Air Resources Board. Their data shows that in 2022 42% of the country’s EVs were sold in California, with annual EV sales in the State exceeding 345,000 units. EVs represent 18% of the overall market share in CA.
