Master's graduates interested in a career in international cooperation have a unique opportunity to broaden their professional experience through the "Swiss Youth at the United Nations and World Bank" programme. Funded by the Swiss Government, this programme is designed to give young Swiss an insight into the world of multilateral organisations.?
The programme is aimed at young professionals with a Master's degree and between 3 and 24 months of work experience. It offers the opportunity to work for one year in a UN organisation or the World Bank and to gain an understanding of their operations and structures. Participants work on concrete projects and actively contribute to the implementation of the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).?
Valuable work experience in international cooperation?
For those who envision a future in international cooperation, the programme offers the opportunity to gain experience in multilateral organisations. Through direct interaction with experts and working in multicultural teams, participants can enhance their professional skills and build valuable networks. The positions cover a wide range of fields: development cooperation, international politics and human rights, as well as economics and environmental sciences. Participants are employed by United Nations Volunteers and seconded to organisations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, UN Women and the World Bank Group. All positions are based abroad. The UN Youth Volunteer contract covers living and travel expenses.?

Application periods for the programme are usually in spring and late summer. The next 20 positions will be advertised on 5 August 2024. Applicants may apply for up to 3 positions per application period. As these positions are exclusively reserved for Swiss nationals, the competition is lower than for other positions at the United Nations, thus increasing the chances of success.?
