Grades Matter
This is one for all the law students in my network. Grades matter. Most law firms will take an interest in your academic history long after you have graduated.
I still have clients asking me for a candidate's transcripts even when they are at the Senior Associate or Special Counsel level. Just because you have 10 years post admission experience, doesn't mean you won't get asked for your transcripts. At the bigger end of town, this happens more often than not.
Not everyone has the luxury of having parents supporting them through their university studies. Many students have to put themselves through university or have their own families to support if they decided to study law as a mature age student. Whilst some law firms will take into account that you have had to juggle full-time work and family responsibilities, some won't.?
My best advice would be to take longer to do your degree rather than trying to finish it in record time. Enroll in less subjects per semester so you are juggling less and have more time to dedicate to your studies.?
Try to position yourself so you can achieve the best grades possible. It will open more doors!
