And Grace Continues…
Have you ever considered what it took to bring you to this exact place and time?
Let’s reflect on the amazing power of Grace, unearned blessings, and how it has impacted your life. For it is only because of Grace that you are here right now, alive and well; able to read this. You have the technology, power and intellect needed to see and comprehend these words.
Let’s go back to the beginning of your story to consider the amount of ‘unearned blessings’ you have received to get here. When you were born, you were immediately surrounded and cared for by people you did not even know. They treated you with delicate care and extreme compassion. If any one of them did not follow an important procedure, your journey would have stopped immediately. You were 100% reliant. You did not earn such treatment, for you had done nothing for any of these people. And Grace continues.
You were then taken to a home you did not purchase to be taken care of night and day. These people, whom you did not choose, kept you fed, cleaned and warm, and still you offered nothing but tears and dirty diapers. You made a mess, they cleaned it up. You broke something, they fixed it. Who are these people that will do everything in their power to help you and yet ask for nothing in return? They risk their own lives and personal needs to make sure you are safe. And Grace continues.
As you become older, these same people continue to find ways to improve your life. They send you off to people who have dedicated their lives to understanding how to educate you and share their knowledge so you can survive and thrive in life. You have not offered any service to them for all their efforts and sacrifices. Yet, they spend a majority of their waking hours just trying to help you grow. And this went on for years and years, by more and more people who seem to want to help you become stronger, smarter and valuable. You still haven’t earned any of this. And Grace continues.
As you grow through childhood, new people want to help you. They will provide you with transportation, food, love, friendship, music, art, coaching, clothing, and new technology. Most of them do not even know you.
You continue to make mistakes - some small, like spilling a drink, and some bigger, like breaking a window. Yet again, grace continues and someone is still willing to offer their support; to help you clean it up and provide comfort and forgiveness. Why are these people sacrificing their lives for you? You still have not earned these blessings and gifts that are being provided to you.
You have reached a time in life where you feel the need to venture out on your own. The blessings from all of the years have prepared you for the next journey. However, you still serve no clear purpose for existing. Then someone, possibly someone you’d never met, offers you compensation to share your time, gifts and talents with their organization. Talents that were nurtured and developed by other people throughout your life. They offer your health insurance, retirement savings, and are even willing to compensate you for time spent away from them. All of this before you provided any value to them whatsoever. And Grace continues.
Our lives may not be perfect but they are amazing! For reasons we may never know, people throughout time have worked very hard to bring us to this exact moment. We are at this time and this place for a reason. Otherwise, every sacrifice would have been in vain. There is no amount of gratitude that could justify the number of unearned blessings we have received in life.
That is why we share our gifts. That is why we do what we do. You see no one is ever 'self-made.' We are all created by the collective sacrifices of so many different people. People that have given a part of themselves to us and asked for nothing in return. You may never realize the impact of your efforts but do not stop. Someone you may never meet, someone that has done nothing to earn it, will one day benefit from your Grace.
And Grace continues…
