My discussion with Vince Warnock, ostensibly about authentic marketing, represented intelligent conversation at its absolute best.
Sure, we chatted about authentic marketing—attracting new clients and generating more new business,? by continuously behaving as our true best selves.? But that topic was both the starting point and common connector of our wide-ranging discussion.
For example, in behaving as our authentic selves, setting appropriate boundaries and limits is more important than total transparency.? Yes, it can be helpful to share lessons learned from our life experience. ?But there’s little to be gaining by reinforcing any hurt and pain associated with these experiences.
On a seemingly unrelated note, it’s important for us not only clearly define our clients services by our strongest attributes, but also to help potential clients understand how our distinctiveness helps them. ?In other words, our personal brands and ideal clients must be authentically aligned.
Similarly, most entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals recognize the importance of networking as a marketing strategy.? But how many of us choose to network in a manner that someone else thinks we should—instead of authentically, aligned with our own personal strengths?
As much as I enjoyed our far ranging conversation, Vince’s closing question was perhaps the most insightful. His question: what are three practical tips for every entrepreneur?
My answer:
Your thoughts?
What a great conversation Vince—thank you so much.
