GPT-4: Rumors & the Future of AI
Expectations high, but safety remains priority
Rumors and expectations are swirling about the release of GPT-4, the latest language model from OpenAI. As the basis for the AI chatbot ChatGPT, many are eager to see what improvements have been made. However, in an interview with Strictly VC, OpenAI's head, Sam Altman, stated that there is no set release schedule yet. He also stressed the importance of ensuring that GPT-4 can be used safely and responsibly.
FAKE: GPT-4 will NOT have 100 billion parameters
In the same interview, Altman was asked about a viral diagram circulating on the internet (see above) that claimed GPT-4 would have 100 billion parameters. He called this claim "complete nonsense" and urged people to be skeptical of such rumors.
Need for developing AIs with diverse perspectives
Altman also emphasized the need for AIs with different perspectives. He believes that people have different expectations for their AI and that it's important to allow for that diversity. Some may want an AI that only makes company-compliant statements, while others may want one that is creative and bold, even if it sometimes says uncomfortable things.
He predicts that in the future, there will be multiple systems with different attitudes and value understandings. Additionally, he envisions a future where users can provide a few pages describing what they expect from their AI and how it should behave.
