GPR or Glue Pull Repair

Glue Pulling Dents and Paintless Dent Removal. How do you judge or decide what can or cannot be repaired by glue pulling or even conventional Paintless dent removal? Answer is simple, you take on the challenge, you either pass or fail. Not all dent removal damages are a success, not all will come back to pre-accident condition.

How do you decide what can or cannot be repaired? It's not what can or cannot it's the challenge involved and deciding challenge accepted. Eight years ago, as a PDR technician the decision was simple, this without a doubt had to be done via conventional PDR and never in a hundred years did we think that one day glue and glue tabs would bring dent damages like these images back to life.

Even something like the above damage is a challenge for conventional PDR and time consuming. Conventional PDR is the process of accessing the dent damage from behind and massaging the damage with specialized rods, different shapes and sizes. Now this is where it gets interesting. Now in 2019 PDR technicians can now glue pull damages from the outer panels and not even have to gain access to the interior side of panels.

The damage may look intimidating and difficult or maybe to most undecided weather it can be done or even attempt damages like this. Glue pull repairs are not much different from conventional PDR. You plan your repair before even starting, knowing where to start, what tabs are going to be used and which ones will be most effective.

This damage was all performed using what’s called flip tabs and 2 different varieties were used. The damages were started with the KECO dark blue flips as they have the most flex and more effective in starting this damage. And seeing how we were pulling at many different angles the dark blue was the best option. As the damage came up and more of the body-line was restored/visible, then we moved to what’s called the Ice flip tabs. The ice flip tabs gave a much stronger pull and helped bring the body-line back to pre accident condition.
