WHAT IS DEVOPS AND WHAT DO PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DEVOPS?

DevOps is a software development methodology where deployment and other operational tasks are automated by IT professionals. DevOps practices center on building collaborative relationships between developers and system administrators, often using tools like source code management, automation testing, infrastructure as code, and application configuration management. The goal of DevOps is usually faster more reliable releases that use higher quality coding standards. Continuous integration is another key principle of DevOps; it requires team members from every part of an organization to integrate changes into production continuously. This helps identify problems early in the development cycle and minimize downtime during deployment for apps with issues or bugs. It also keeps up with changing customer demands since apps can be redeployed quickly when needed.

"The partnership and collaboration will enable GPMS to maximize customer value and deliver tightly integrated end-to-end DevSecOps solutions faster"

With GitLab self-hosted or on a designated cloud provider, clients have a unified solution for continuous development and continuous integrations while adhering to DevOps principles.

PARTNERING WITH GITLAB IS THE RIGHT CHOICE!

With more than 12 million users worldwide, GitLab is a collaboration software that brings all development work together — from planning to coding, testing, and deployment. With more than 27 million committers (development contributors), and 80 million repositories created (users host their projects on GitLab), no wonder why companies like Google, Microsoft, ING Bank, Nomura Research Institute (NRI) are some of its top enterprise clients. The platform has also been used by NASA for its Mars Rover project. This partnership enables GPMS to continue our mission of delivering innovative solutions to help align corporate initiatives with cost-efficiency.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN DEVOPS THIS YEAR?

If you look at a movement like DevOps, which is heavily geared toward collaboration and breaking down silos between teams, then it’s not hard to imagine that in just 10 years, many companies won’t have IT operations teams anymore.

They will just be two parts of one bigger team working together: “We are going from ‘no ops’ to ‘devops,' says Carl Caum, senior director for technology strategy & research at New Relic”. At most organizations today, developers own software until it hits production; they deploy code while risking degrading system performance or disrupting service availability. The rollout of containers can help automate some infrastructure tasks around deployment but doesn’t change how development teams interact with developers who manage traditional non-containerized workloads.

It still forces both groups to work separately -- one group managing source code that may never make it into production and another group managing data centers as if all applications were running on bare metal machines, when in fact far fewer do. This separation makes little sense in an age where a large majority of applications run in containers and cloud services. One way to break down these barriers is by evolving development practices so that application owners are more involved from day one instead of receiving requests from other teams through ticketing systems weeks later.

WHAT IS THE LATEST TECH FORECAST?

Technology moves fast, and if you’re trying to keep your business up to date, you might want to consider investing in a DevOps infrastructure. With everything moving at breakneck speed, your company could find itself swiftly left behind. So, what can be done? The answer lies with a DevOps solution. Of course, there are dozens of different tools for just about any application or technical problem imaginable. But some are better than others—and far more successful than their competitors as well...

While it isn’t a new concept by any means, DevOps is certainly one that is steadily growing in popularity; while many companies have struggled with implementing it correctly (or failing to implement it entirely), there are plenty of success stories out there that prove its worth. It helps streamline IT initiatives through a combination of codified best practices, collaboration between departments, and straightforward reporting tools.
