GPL Portfolio Committee visit DID Projects in the Vaal Region

Today, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GLP) Portfolio Committee on Infrastructure Development and Property Management led by the Committee Chairperson, Thulani Ndlovu conducted an oversight visit at the Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) projects in the Vaal Region. The Committee visited Johan Hynes Hospital, the Department of Economic Development (DED) and the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) Regional Offices.
The site visits commenced at Johan Heyns Hospital where the facility is being converted from a health centre into a district hospital. Renovations and rehabilitation work is currently being implemented by the Department of Health. ?The Committee committed to engaging further at a higher-level regarding developments at the hospital.
The Committee proceeded to the DED and the GDARD Regional Offices. These offices are critical for supporting economic growth and agricultural development in the Vaal Region. The current lease? ends at the end of March 2025 and the contract has been extended for a period of eight months while procurement for the new offices is being implemented by the DID, which is responsible for procurement of suitable office space for the Client Departments.
