The Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi hosted an awards ceremony yesterday to recognise the improved audit performance of Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) Departments and entities. The Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) received an award for obtaining an unqualified audit in the 2023-24 financial year. The MEC for Infrastructure Development and COGTA, Jacob Mamabolo, the Head of Department for Infrastructure Development, Masabata Mutlaneng and acting CFO, Moloko Matloha were award recipients.
The GPG has made significant strides in financial governance, showing notable improvements in the audit outcomes for the 2023-24 financial year. This year, 21 GPG departments and entities received clean audit opinions. Eleven departments and entities received unqualified audit opinions while six department and 14 entities achieved clean audit status. ?This is an increase from the previous financial year.
The improvement in the audit outcomes is a significant milestone and a testament that the GPG is making visible progress in strengthening financial management to eliminate wasteful and unlawful usage of public funds.
