Over the past few years, government intervention has returned to the lives of Brazilian managers and investors. Recent news surrounding the CEO position of Vale and Petrobras, as well as increased government voting power over Eletrobras have made these risks very concrete. Our speaker has extensive experience as a director of state-owned companies, as well as private sector companies under significant government influence, such as Petrobras, Eletrobras, Caixa Economica and Vale.

About the Speaker:??Mauro Rodrigues da Cunha

Mauro is one of the top corporate governance voices in Latin America, having served on the boards of some of the most important companies in Brazil - including Vale, Petrobras, Eletrobras, Totvs, Klabin, among others - with significant experience in crisis management and CEO succession.

He has led two of the leading corporate governance institutions in Brazil - Chairman of IBGC (Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance) and CEO of Amec (Association of Capital Market Investors), and earned multiple recognitions, including the ICGN (International Corporate Governance Network) Excellence in Corporate Governance Award in 2018. He has participated in national and international efforts to develop corporate governance, including policy making, legal reform and best practices guidances. Under his leadership, Amec launched the Brazilian Stewardship Code.

As a fund manager, he worked for several institutions, with a track record that materially surpassed benchmarks.

Mauro holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Economics from PUC-Rio. He holds the certifications of CFA, IBGC CCA+ and NACD.DC.
