Government Doesn't Create Wealth. People Do.

I'm sorry. I admit that I am a serial entrepreneur. I'm sorry, I admit that I'm in business for one reason only and that is to make a profit. Profits are akin to blood in the human body, you need them to live.

Profits are reinvested in technology, product innovation, inventory, overhead, paying taxes and most importantly, providing excellent pay and benefits to employees. Without profits, businesses fail and close down and with government intervention, it's no wonder more than 75% of businesses fail within five years.

Profits are also needed to pay for f----g attorneys. Don't get me wrong, I love my team of attorneys. But with so many regulations to deal with (and we are a small business), I have to use them daily. We just settled this bullshit case in California (the worst state in the Union to do business) because of claims we made on some of our packaging. Mind you, no one got hurt or injured and recalls were not needed. California is anti-business especially the courts, and it's no wonder companies such as Tesla, Exxon Chevon, Oracle, and hundreds of others have moved to Texas.

Profits are also needed to pay for f-----g tariffs. Trump enacted them and Biden kept them. We are paying 25% tariffs on foil sheets and many other item and that just went up to 35%. Who do you think ends up paying for tariffs? Yep, consumers.

So when I read this article (I say the WSJ is the best overall newspaper in the country as it has the best reporting), I had to share it with you because so many of you are entrepreneurs, coaches, and business leaders. I hate writing about politics and rarely do, but this is more about survival for entrepreneurs and start-ups.

Barron's reported last weekend that 60% of start-ups less than one year old shut down because of lack of funding. The more we pay in regulations, tariffs, legal fees and other bullshit costs, the less profits we have to invest. That is their mantra and it will kill entrepreneurship, small businesses and the spirit of doing business. And it will shut down profits and who is going to get the most hurt: Employees. They will move from company payrolls to government payrolls. And there is no wealth creation in that.
