Government confirms Renters (Reform) Bill date

It’s an exciting chapter for PayProp. We’re proud to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for the ESTAS Awards happening today, which recognise the UK’s best property industry players for customer service. PayProp has also been shortlisted for two categories at the Negotiator Awards taking place next month.

There has been some interesting news in the housing sector this month too. The government has announced a date for the Renters (Reform) Bill. What are their next steps, and when will it become law?

We also look at the other housing policies announced at party conferences this month. What do politicians have planned for the private rented sector and housing as a whole?

The government will hold a consultation on anti-money laundering rules that could stop banks from freezing letting agencies’ undesignated client accounts. We investigate the issue, and ask how agents can protect themselves in the meantime.

The Scottish government is also holding a consultation on its New Deal for Tenants, which includes far-reaching plans for rent control. How can agents have their say on the proposals?

Bad news from the Home Builders Federation, who have named England as the most difficult place in the developed world to find housing. We pass on their opinion of what has gone wrong, and what can be done about it.

Finally, Agents Giving is once again holding its Winter Warmth Campaign. Find out how you and your agency can help homeless people in your area.
