to create jobs and advance quantum technologies
Hey Everyone,
Recently, IonQ Inc. (NYSE: IONQ) has acquired a Toronto software startup in a deal its CEO says will accelerate its growth by allowing quantum computers to better communicate with one another. The deal for Entangled Networks Ltd., announced Wednesday, is the first ever for IonQ, which was founded by a couple of university professors in 2015 and?went public in 2021?via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).
Canada, this won't be the last Quantum computing related startup that is acquired.
So let's get into it:

Davos 2023, is also pushing the future of Quantum computing strategies for Nation States. The World Economic Forum's "National Quantum Blueprint" was even established to help formulate this plan.
Canada may not be the first country that comes to mind when you think of Quantum computing efforts, but think again.
The federal government is pledging $360 million to create a national quantum strategy to support the work of scientists and researchers across Canada. Fran?ois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced the launch of?Canada’s National Quantum Strategy.
To learn more, please read?Canada’s National Quantum Strategy.
According to the Government of Canada, NQS (National Quantum Strategy) will focus on building on Canada’s strength in quantum research, growing the nation’s quantum-ready technologies, companies and talent, and solidifying the country’s global leadership in the space.
Canada loses the majority of its talent to the brain drain to the United States, including in A.I., so I’m not exactly sure what they expect with their Quantum talent. Although the initiative looks promising on paper and there are a few decent?Quantum startups in Canada.
NQS allocates $141 million to?quantum research, $45 million to?talent, and $169 million to?commercialization.
The breakdown of the funding is also interesting! Canada seems to think the commercialization of Quantum tech is key.
The Government of Canada introduced NQS at The Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, a Kitchener-Waterloo quantum hub. During his remarks, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry Fran?ois-Philippe Champagne said he believes that quantum will be “an engine for growth” in the country.
The Government of Canada has already begun deploying this $360 million amount through a combination of funding calls and other supports, including both current and new programs.
Justin Trudeau still has that Teacher inside of him:
TL;DR
The National Quantum Strategy is driven by three missions in key quantum technology areas:
The missions will be advanced through investments in three pillars:

“Quantum technologies will shape the course of the future and?Canada?is at the forefront, leading the way. The National Quantum Strategy will support a resilient economy by strengthening our research, businesses and talent, giving?Canada a competitive advantage for decades to come. I look forward to collaborating with businesses, researchers and academia as we build our quantum future.”
The Pillars
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is offering three?quantum streams of Alliance grants, supporting consortia, international and domestic quantum research.
The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is launching a new program, the Quantum Research and Development Initiative (QRDI), to advance shared quantum priorities of federal departments and agencies.
NSERC’s Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE)?program is developing diverse research trainees ready to transition to Canada’s quantum workforce, with three CREATE initiatives.
New quantum work placements through?Mitacs?are building bridges between academia and industry, and helping develop, attract and retain quantum talent in Canada.
Canada’s?Global Innovation Clusters?are furthering the adoption of made-in-Canada quantum technologies by businesses in key industries, and by public and not-for-profit entities.
Innovative Solutions Canada?(ISC) is moving quantum solutions toward the marketplace by matching Government of Canada clients with Canadian SMEs that are developing early stage research and development (R&D), or testing late-stage R&D.
The NRC is also advancing two quantum technology domains under the collaborative R&D model of its Challenges Program, the?Quantum Sensors Challenge?and the new?Applied Quantum Computing Challenge.
Regional Development Agencies are supporting high-potential quantum projects and activities. Through these efforts,?Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions,?Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario,?Prairies Economic Development Canada?and?Pacific Economic Development Canada?are helping Canadian quantum companies scale-up.
As Betakit notes: Canada currently plays home to a growing quantum ecosystem, from hubs like the?Perimeter Institute,?PINQ2, and?Quantum City, to companies like?Xanadu, D-Wave, and Nord Quantique, to investors like BDC Capital, RiSC Capital, Boreal Ventures, and Innovobot.
Mission: Quantum computers and software
The?Quantum Computers and Software mission?aims to make Canada a world leader in the continued development, deployment and use of quantum computing hardware and software to the benefit of Canadian industry, governments and citizens.
Mission: Quantum communications
The?Quantum Communications mission?intends to ensure the privacy and cyber-security of Canadians in a quantum-enabled world through a national secure quantum communications network and a post-quantum cryptography initiative.
Mission: Quantum sensors
The?Quantum Sensors mission?seeks to enable the Government of Canada and key industries to be developers and early adopters of new quantum sensing technologies.
For its part, Toronto-based Xanadu recently hit an “elusive milestone” with its Borealis machine, delivering a result beyond the practical reach of a conventional computer system, according to a?paper?published in research journal Nature.
Canada, not a commercial power-house, has dedicated nearly half of NQS’ funding is geared towards commercialization.
To remain a leader in the space, Champagne said Canada needs to be “more ambitious.”
The politician was sounding hyped up:
“Quantum is not vertical, it’s horizontal,” added Champagne. “Like AI, it is going to have an impact on everything.”
That remains to be seen in 2023. Will Quantum computing merge with A.I. and produce an "AQ" field. How will Quantum machine learning evolve even as LLMs become more effective?
Will Cloud computing BigTech companies acquire the best Quantum computing startups and when will that consolidation occur? These are some of the questions I ponder week to week as an emerging tech independent journalist.

2 周I Established Multi Agro Products on 02.01.2021. From 2021 to 2024, I have prepared (1) 14 cemented bio flocs lengths 24 feet wide 11 feet deep 4 feet numbers of tanks, and 6 for general fish. Length 10 feet width11 feet deep 5 feet numbers of tanks 2 for crabs. Length 11 feet width 11 feet deep 4 feet numbers of tanks 6 for local catfish and nemacheilus fishes and osters.?Above the bio floc bird's farms in 2 stairs ETC. Low-cost animal feed-making shed with some equipment (1). Cows shed for 12 cows (1) Green-garbage, fully-digest and echo-friendly gas plant (1). Odour-free, water-less, infection-free and echo-friendly toilets (4), urinals (4) and straw houses (1) all are attached in one place. I use water five times (1) use water for oxygenation (2) for fish to survive (3) Clean the cow shed (4) Mixing the cow dung and green garbage (5) After the slurry I remove water from that water for irrigations. The cow shed, toilets, and urinals are all attached to the gas plant and by biofloc water we clean the cow shed and all garbage goes to the gas plant. In this way, we can save water, get more gas, and decrease the methane gas going to the environment.?

1 年Good news! I believe that any technology needs to be thought of and applied to help, facilitate and solve some demand. And for that to happen with AI, the hardware needs to track right in terms of performance and capability. They must grow and walk together! Quantum computing is reaching unimaginable levels and we need to be ready for everything that is to come.
