GOTS organic cotton certification, certification process, how much it costs

In the previous article, we have introduced what is GOTS organic cotton certification

Let's take a look at the GOTS organic cotton certification process and how much it costs

Certification Process:

1. Application: Fill in and submit the application form provided by the institution, including the certification location and other information

2. Agreement: After confirming the application form, the certification body will sign an agreement with the client and provide a quotation.

3. Audit: After signing the agreement and paying the certification fee, the certification begins to evaluate the GOTS documents (eg: material flow diagram for each site, including risk points, GOTS system plan (institution sent checklist), procedure manual). At the same time, the agency will schedule on-site audits and arrange auditors to start preparing for on-site audits.

4. Review and Conclusion: After the on-site audit is completed, we need to ensure that all corrective actions are resolved and then wait for the agency to issue a certificate.

5. Time: Generally, certification takes 3 to 4 months, which can be completed in advance according to your company's preparation!

6. Certificate issuance: After the problem is rectified, the institution will issue a certificate

Certification and certification body: Shanghai CU, ETKO, IDFL

Organic cotton transaction:

GOTS certification is a supply chain traceability certification, which is extremely rigorous in the upstream and downstream supply chain traceability. The transaction is traced through the TC transaction certificate. The seller needs to provide the seller TC, and then pass the seller's TC transaction certificate. With the purchase and sale contract, delivery note, etc., go to the issuing agency (such as CU) to apply for the TC transaction certificate that you need to issue to the customer, but if one of the supply chains is incomplete, the traceability of the supply chain cannot be completed, and it will be interrupted and cannot be opened. Issue the TC transaction certificate! (When the right of goods does not transfer, the external processing unit only needs to have the GOTS certification qualification, and does not need to provide the TC transaction certificate!)

Take a trading company as an example; there are two types of organic cotton products traded in trade:

1. Buy the raw materials yourself and go to the factory for processing

2. Direct purchase of commodity transactions

The above two methods, no matter which method, must have GOTS certification in the upstream and downstream of the entire supply chain. And can provide TC transaction certificate to ensure the smooth transaction of the order.

Expenses incurred during certification:

The nature of the company applying for the application is different, and the charging standards are also different. Among them, the trading company has the lowest price and the dyeing factory has the highest cost. The price needs to be checked according to the applicant's own situation**

1. Certification application fee (to be verified)

2. Counseling and consultation fee (to be confirmed)

3. Travel incurred during on-site audit (reimbursable)
