Gotcha 20-20 Vision?
It was in 2016 that I first heard of the word HIPO employee. It means high potential. I was supposedly High Potential based on some psychometric tests Hogan etc, interviews and past performances. And, I had settled my mindset that I am HiPo for ever and even (Amen)!
But it was in 2019 that I learned, such tests have reliability and validity for maximum 3 years!!!
Point is : I understood that ... what my potential was in 2016 is redundant in 2019 because context, situation, environment - in short - demands of life (which includes professional part too) had changed.
Also, my potential of 2016 was resultant of what I did in yesteryears (ie before 2016).
The moment I stopped stretching myself (which I will write as another post), I am soon loosing grip of wisdom, operational sharpness and vigour in action.
Now, most of the people around me argue with me “when will you be content”. My point is, how can I be content when I know in my spirit I am capable of more. I just can’t understand why people settle for less. It’s laziness. It’s not contentment.
And why do I urge everyone to push yourself, stretch yourself to “next level” ? Because God’s best design and creation is “us” - Human beings. Even vedas say “??? ??????????”. ( I topped Vedic Management subject in my management course - so I know!!! You see !!! )
We HAVE TO EXCEL. We don’t have to chase and kill ourselves. But we definitely need to stretch our potential, and not settle for mediocricy.

5 年Hi Dr. Priya! We're so happy, touched, emotionally proud to see your progress and glad that the one hour daily for Reflection & Practice, that we had made compulsory was not a waste as some thought! Now at ICCfG we're trying to see how we can do advocacy to provide one-hour daily for R & P throughout schooling thru PMO, NITI AYOG, MHRD, NCERT, etc. We will need all your support! All best wishes!

5 年While I totally agree with stretching oneself out of a need for thrill and adventure, I would not be judgemental about those who don't and label it as laziness! There's great Wisdom in cultivating unconditional contentment ; that which does not depend on external circumstances or any pre-conditions. All ambitions (including self-improvement) have internal conflict at the center and eventually cause further confict externally...I can relate this to the famous encounter between Diogenes and Alexander the Great. Finally, I cannot resist quoting this..." Consider the Lillies of the field. How they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin" --Mathew 6.28 ????
