Got a Story to Tell?

Got a Story to Tell?

Everything is content and content is everything. Stories are a building block for society, for those that succeed in society, those that win.

But we need to put everything in some context. Winners in the short term can turn out to be long-term losers; the game has to play out...and it's a long game.

Not that it shouldn't be taken seriously. The supposedly most fun sites and entertainment social networks are hugely impactful business. Business that gets executives pulled into Congress .

Every storyteller is doing it for their own reasons, with their own goals and motivations. Like anything there are pros and cons, incredible highs and scary lows; the variance and volatility can't be ignored.

Businesses are going to rethink how they get their story out - and how that effects traditional marketing and advertising channels should not be overlooked.

Whether we like it or not we need to learn how to be a bit of an entreprenuer ; monetizing from what we create, and the technology around that is developing and opening up increasing opportunities.

AI is going to have a big role - have a look at the PitchBook gen AI report:

Some tech companies (especially in the fintech space) are in as much trouble as the banks -

We don't know who is next, but feels like we are not even close to the end:

When things are really getting rough and tough, as it is now, it's good to pull back, like really, really far back - Tim Urban was on Derek Thompson's podcast with a look at the story of all of human history as a 1000 page book - 100 or 200 years feels like ancient history to us now, especially technologically, but it's really a blink.

The stories we tell and the stories we listen to define a lot of who we become. Take control of your story so the context is as seen as the content.

I love the article. But, this image you have for the front cover is an absolute cracker. The bit that says “Hunter gatherer” is basically the oral tradition. It’s that period of time long before the written word, where humanity evolved and survived become the species It is today. Telling a story is just being human. It’s written in our DNA and it has allowed us to survive for millennia. It’s older than religion itself. So using it to communicate should be an absolute no brainer, whether you are an individual or a big powerful company. Tell your story and be proud of it.

You know I love this
