Any time human beings work together, there's a temptation to gossip. We sometimes encounter colleagues who are judgmental, critical or just mean. It's wrong and needs to be stopped. Gossiping is toxic.
It might make you feel like you're part of an "in-group" for a short time, but its long-term effects are purely negative. Trust and respect are critical to success and fulfillment, too.
As a leader, it's important not to let anything akin to gossip creep into your communications. Putting down competitors might be fun, but it's better to speak of them as worthy adversaries. Dealing with internal issues must be done with objectivity and fairness.
And remember, your team members are "always mirroring you." So, as a leader and a speaker, you're setting the example.
In this short video, you'll learn that gossip can become contagious, negatively affecting morale and productivity, and the best ways to manage it in your own life and organization.

In this episode, my friend and over-the-top Drill Instructor Love Bug Dov Baron... The Science of Emotion and I discussed many things, including leadership, reciprocal vulnerability, our connectedness as human beings, and more.
Dov creates experiences that give you, your audience, and your organization ways of gaining a strategic and cultural advantage over the competition by eliciting the deep (often hidden) "Meaning" that drives the individual and the organization. I think you'll love this conversation.

3 个月John - interesting, and it made me wonder. In an office environment, gossip often happens around the coffee mess, kitchen area, etc where employees gather and it’s easy to do. But I wonder if it occurs less if a team is entirely virtual, often with each member in different regions of he country or world?
