Gordons Bonkers ISE2022 Barcelona Blog - Episode 2 (Day 2)

So, after all the excitement of Day 1, how would Day 2 compare... Well, it was even busier… According to Mike Blackman, day 1 saw over 20,000 people through the door, and Day 2 felt like double that. Day 2 for us was all about the 1-2-1 press and some of the speaking opportunities for our brands.?

What I missed out on in my blog yesterday was the AV User Group Speed Pitches. Owen Ellis , who runs the AV User and AV Consultants Group, told me that this was his favourite day of the year, where brands are given just 5 minutes to present their brands to a room full of end-users. Always up for the challenge, both DTEN and Jetbuilt presented, and I am pleased to say they were well received and bang on time, unlike some others who shall remain nameless??????So another bonus of working with Re-Sauce is our deep knowledge of the Pro-AV Industry and our contacts, which lead of great opportunities like these. So if you need quality advice and excellent press and PR, you know where we are?[email protected] .

As I dashed from hall to hall as fast as my little legs and knackered body would allow, I bumped into all sorts of fabulous people, and they don’t get much more fabulous than Adam Kingshott .

Adam and I go back a very long way, and I have to say I absolutely LOVE that man. He is always smiling and great company, and that, of course, is just ONE of the great things about a real show. As you move from hall to hall, you see all these wonderful people you have known for years but have not seen for at least two years. Indeed, Adam told me of a friend of his who needed help, and before you know it, Re-Sauce has another new client. Yep, that is what great trade shows are ALL about and the reason I’ll be off to InfoComm in Vegas as well. You just can’t beat a great trade show, and they don’t get any better than ISE and InfoComm.

After a day packed with more interviews, Doug Remington and Scott Krueckeberg from DTEN headed off to present at the Smart Building Conference hosted by ISE and the awesome Bob Synder . Bob Synder and I also go back about 20 years; Bob was actually the Editor of rAVe Europe for many years and is such a top bloke. Whilst he is from the US originally, he has lived over in Europe for years, including Malta, where we shared a fab meal pre-COVID with our long-suffering wives, overlooking the sea at a great restaurant Bob suggested. Bob was good enough to invite DTEN to present at this conference, another little advantage of being in the industry as long as I have?????And that’s another great thing about key industry trade shows, they offer an opportunity to get the insights of industry leaders and offer an opportunity for brands like ours to talk about the fantastic products and services they offer.?

So after another hectic day, I head off into the cab queue and straight off to the Inavate Awards. As I enter the venue's gates, I get to see a large number of my old Peerless team. What a treat to catch up with them, and let's be honest, you know, if Peerless are in town, it’s going to be a great night and more than likely a messy one?????!

So first off, hats off to Dan Jago and his team at IML. What a fantastic venue, great guest list, an excellent band and awards that run flawlessly. It is no small undertaking putting on an awards do of that scale and size in a new venue and a foreign country; we should know we have organised plenty… So to nail it the way Dan and his team did was brilliant. Of course, it was made even better when HYPERVSN won their second award in 2 days, and yet again, Rainer Link goes up to collect it, and yet again, I am scrambling for my camera. This bloke is like the Usain Bolt of award ceremonies; no sooner than they are announced, he is up on stage in under 10 seconds, even when we are sat at the back. Anyway, I manage to take a quick snap together after.

Another fantastic night, so many great people and contacts that the evening passes so quickly and before you know it, Dan, Simon Nana and I are the last three standing. As you can see, I was sober as a judge, well, maybe Judge Judy, after three bottles of red.
