?Saturday 8th?June – InfoComm Day 1… ?-4
Big Prep Day… Anyone who knows Me well, will know I am a meticulous planner. So, I actually started my planning for InfoComm24 11 months ago when I booked my flights and hotel… In my experience, that is when you get THE best deals…
Today is my BIG Prep day when I run through every meeting agenda, print out every day in detail, and send separate e-mails to myself broken down by day with all the various party and event invites attached and also printed. Yep, I am that sad…
I hate having meetings for meeting's sake and also sitting in a meeting without an agenda and game plan… To me, those meetings are called talking?????,?and I much prefer focus. That said, I don’t mind “Brainstorming” when you need to be Creative… and I MUCH prefer face-to-face for that. For Me, there is also nothing worse than being late to a meeting or not having what you need to hand… So knowing the Las Vegas Conference Centre (LVCC) well, I plan my meetings so that I am in West Hall one day and Central the next..
Having spent a good part of the day checking through everything I need, I then turned my attention to my amazing band, After Eve. We have a gig tomorrow night at one of our favourite pubs, The Mermaid, in St Albans. After an hour or so of rehearsal, I am G2G with the set list for tomorrow, so I switch on the cricket World Cup for a bit of R&R.
Sunday 9th?June – InfoComm Day 1…? -3
?Having done a lot of the heavy lifting for IC24 yesterday, all I really need to do today is pack and check-in online, oh yeah, and play a two-hour gig!!! I am also meticulous in my packing, packing absolute essentials in my hand luggage and backup in my checked bags. Having done Vegas around 30 or so times, I have had a number of “lost luggage” incidents, so I ALWAYS pack what I need and keep that with me.?
BA’s site is down, so check-in is a lot more difficult than it really should have been, but Hey, Ho. I print off my boarding pass, download it, and save it in my app to my wallet, as you just never know… or do you??? The gig goes well, and so I get back home in time to have some late-night dinner and sleep.

Monday 10th?June – InfoComm Day 1… -2?
Monday morning, I checked the flight was on time and headed off to T5 at LHR and then spent 20 minutes queuing for check-in at T5, only to find that BA had moved the Vegas flight to T3, which is miles away… How can this be? I checked online what terminal, and so I am not saying BA made a secret of this, but I DO think they might have made a little more effort to communicate this… So, after a rather stressful journey via the Heathrow Express, which broke down on the way, I finally got to T3 and checked in… As I head to security, I unpack my hand luggage and, remove the laptops, etc… and walk through only to get pulled for a more “in-depth” search once I have had to endure all my bags being unpacked in front of those behind me, turns out security have lost my boarding pass, which also has my luggage receipt on it…
?
Now, being the meticulous planner I am, I had, as stated, downloaded and printed a spare boarding pass and took a pic of my luggage tag, as this is definitely not my first rodeo… That said, I am pretty pissed off, and so make them shut down the machine and get my original boarding pass out of it… Actually, it did feel quite good making them stress a little, rather than the other way round???!
?
I walked into the lounge, and it was packed with the great and good from the AV Industry… BA called the flight, and then we had to wait 1.5 hours at the gate for it to board… Don’t you just love that… Thankfully, the flight went without any further hitches, and I landed in Vegas in 110-degree heat and headed off to my hotel, the Paris.
?
I chose this hotel because it is on the LV Monorail. After a rather long wait for check-in, I finally got into the room only to find that there was no room service, and I had to go back out to get some food. Less than ideal…
?
Having been charged nearly $20 for a very basic sandwich and $10 for a diet coke, I concluded that indeed the Paris, Paris was very reminiscent of Paris itself… Very expensive and with crap service LOL! Anyway, I head off to bed for some sleep, as tomorrow is a BIG day… So, if you want to know more about what I saw at IC24 and how I ended up holding a 20-foot python around my neck, then make sure you come back tomorrow for Part 2 of Gordon’s Bonkers IC24 Blog!?#avtweeps #infocomm #?
