Catherine Alsén Gelfgren: "The future of home delivery is circular"

Simple, efficient and circular – this is the motto of Catherine Alsén Gelfgren, project manager of Gordon Circular, a system that replaces single-use packaging for home delivery of food with a circular solution.

Soon, all those trips to the recycling station with paper and cardboard accompanying deliveries of goods you buy online could be a thing of the past. In a pilot project that Gordon started together with Coop this summer, a selected group of online shoppers can choose to receive their home deliveries in circular packaging instead of paper bags.

– There has been a huge interest in participating. We see that there is a real demand among consumers. We make it easy for customers to receive their home delivery of food while minimising the climate impact of single-use packaging," says Catherine.


With the pilot project underway, Catherine and her team and project partners look forward to learning the insights and results before the next step of rapidly scaling up Gordon Circular in Sweden.

TIPS FROM GORDON

A strong opportunity with a weak SEK

With the weak krona making it more expensive for Swedish companies to import goods and services, here's a tip from Gordon:


Companies with sales in Danish kronor (DKK) and costs in SEK, benefit from the current market situation. You can use the exchange rate to your advantage if you produce in Sweden and sell to customers in the Danish market. With Gordon, you get a temperature-controlled delivery chain on both sides of the border, reaching 99% of all Danes with home deliveries. After moving into new premises in Sthlm 01 in Stockholm at the beginning of the year, we have furnished our office with recycled furniture and fabrics. One step closer to reusable bags for home deliveries

With our project partners Coop Sverige, Samhall AB, Mylla and AD Company, we at Gordon have been granted funding from Vinnova for further development of Gordon Circular, a circular packaging system for food home deliveries. The goal at the end of the project is for the system to be ready for large-scale distribution. Read more
