GORDON Andrzej [ 1945 - 1992 ]
Artist, painter, visual artist. One of the most important artists from Gorzów. Member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. He also painted landscapes and still life. He practiced painting and graphics with ink and pastels. Commemorated with a plaque in the Avenue of Stars in the Old Market Square (1997).
Born in Bydgoszcz. He lived and worked in Gorzów from 1969. He died there. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1970). He had his first original exhibition in Gorzów Wielkopolski in 1968 (in the District Museum - now the Jan Dekert Lubusz Museum ). A year later, he joined the city for good. In 1970 he obtained a diploma in painting (with honors) from prof. Dominik Studnicki, and a specialization in graphics with prof. Andrzej Rudziński. He gained recognition with controversial works combining sacred and erotic elements. He has shown his work at over 40 individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad. He participated in several dozen group exhibitions and competitions (numerous awards and distinctions). The inhabitants of Gorzów could see his works, among others duringThe Autumn Salon (in 1972-1992) and in 1987 at the ZWCh Stilon Plant Museum - at the original exhibition, considered the most important in his career. His achievements are estimated at over 1,000 paintings, graphics, pastels, posters (including for the Juliusz Osterwa Theater in Gorzów), book illustrations (e.g. Stanis?aw Herakliusz Lubomirski's Trafunek misfortune , published by the WSP Library in Zielona Góra) , etc.
He did not attach importance to his work. He gave most of the paintings to friends. Although he lived and worked in Gorzów, he left the smallest achievements here. The Lubuskie Museum, the Bureau of Art Exhibitions and the Provincial and Municipal Public Library of Z. Herbert . Most of his works (considered the most outstanding) are in private collections, and a large part in Zielona Góra: the collection of paintings is owned by the Museum of the Lubuskie Region, and the prints are in the collections of the Provincial and Municipal Public Library (ibid.).
In 1976 he was awarded the Merit Cultural Activist badge, and in 1988 the Silver Cross of Merit. A member of an informal cultural and opinion-forming group known as Table Number 1 . In 2007, a series of collection 750th anniversary of the book was published , Gordon pen Renata Laminitis. He was buried in his hometown of Bydgoszcz. [Data as of: July 1, 2011]
