GOOGLE'S NEW MOBILE FRIENDLY TEST TOOL & HOW TO TEST YOUR WEBSITE

GOOGLE'S NEW MOBILE FRIENDLY TEST TOOL & HOW TO TEST YOUR WEBSITE

Did you know if your website isn’t mobile optimized within the next few months, then Google is going to downgrade your site in their search results?

In this video below, I’ll show you how to know if Google thinks your site is mobile-friendly and what website improvements Google wants you to make.

Hey, it’s Todd Hartley, and most of you know me as the “Video Guy." But I’m really a digital marketer that creates strategic business videos that get powerful results.

This week at Search Marketing Summit the news broke that Google will be updating their mobile-friendly algorithm and it will go live in the coming months.

If you don’t mobily optimize your website now, when Mobilegeddon comes, you could lose a lot of Google love, see a decrease in the traffic coming to your business and decreased revenue. Recognizing where developing customer trends were headed, back in 2013 I was tipping you off that eventually the day would come when Google insisted everyone optimize their web properties for the growing mobile audience.

In a moment, I’ll show you how to easily test the mobile friendliness of your website. But first, for all the Google-haters who think this is an unnecessary action, you’re missing the big picture. Google is interested in rewarding mobile friendly websites because since 2015, mobile searches have surpassed desktop searches. And if most of us are surfing on our mobile devices, Google needs to make sure they’re displaying search results of sites that load properly for visitors on 3G & 4G devices.

Make sense?

Google's new mobile-friendly testing tool makes it easier for business owners to understand and fix their website based on three categories:

*MOBILE FRIENDLINESS

*MOBILE SPEED

*DESKTOP SPEED

When completed, I got some basic pass/fail results. But behind the scenes, a minute or two later Google did something really helpful. They emailed me a much more comprehensive analysis of my website’s problem areas plus info about where I can improve my site’s results. You should also know that mobile users don’t read on their devices. The screens are too small and we’re all going friggin blind. That’s why when given a choice, people are 4x more likely to watch a video than read text.

If you want to do a better job convincing and converting new customers, start creating videos that answer the problems your prospects are dealing with.

Please share this video with everyone you root for so they can be prepared for Google’s mobile-friendly algorithm charges that are coming soon to a website near you.

And if you would like to continue on with this conversation, post your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

UPDATE: After getting my results, I emailed our webmaster the information Google sent me and it cost only $125 to fix our sites issues. We are now passing all of the test.

Best of luck!
