Google’s Bard: ChatGPT’s New Rival
In response to ChatGPT's recent Buzz, 谷歌 has some news of its own. Google announced today, Monday, February 6th, that they would begin rolling out their own artificial intelligence chatbot technology named “Bard,” which is said to compete directly with Chat GPT.
Bard is powered by LaMDA, also known as Language Model for Dialogue Conversations, which Google has spent the last two years working on new languages and conversations. They made the news that they now allow trusted testers to use Bard before it’s open to the public. CNBC reported that employees are testing this platform as a part of a plan to respond to Chat GPT as part of a “code red” plan.
Like Chat GPT, Bard uses information from the internet to respond to users with innovative, fresh responses. Google also advertises the ability to use Bard to simplify complex topics, such as explaining new space discoveries to a 9-year-old.
When Bard is released to the public, it will initially use the lightweight model of LaMDA. After testing and receiving external feedback, Google will ensure the platform is up to par. I am excited to see the similarities and differences between ChatGPT and Google’s Bard when it is released.
